AFBA is pleased to announce that the shareholders of the AFBA 5Star Funds have overwhelmingly approved the Funds’ merger with The FBR Funds effective on March 12, 2010. As a result, AFBA members will have access to a greater selection of investment offerings and lower ongoing costs with an organization that shares our passion for serving the needs of our membership.
Going forward, the AFBA 5Star Balanced and Total Return Bond Funds have been renamed the FBR Balanced Fund and FBR Core Bond Fund, respectively, and have retained their portfolio management teams. All other AFBA 5Star Funds have been merged into similar FBR Funds. Through our strategic alliance with The FBR Funds, AFBA will continue to utilize The FBR Funds in several of its existing investment programs in the same way that the Association has utilized the AFBA 5Star Funds.
