Message from Our New President
and Salute to Our Past President

My wife, Karen, and I are extremely proud to join Armed Forces Benefit Association in a new capacity. As a 17 year member, former Chairman and now President, I pledge to honor the 58 year-old AFBA tradition to provide meaningful financial benefits for our military men and women and others entrusted with our homeland defense and security.

I come to you from an active-duty military career which has spanned 36 years. I know what it means to serve one’s country and the special demands which are placed on those who serve. I would like to take this opportunity to salute Lt. General Charles C. Blanton for his remarkable leadership in bringing AFBA to the level it is today. He is a visionary whose contributions include: our current headquarters building in Alexandria, Virginia; the worldwide 5Star banking operation; the 5Star Life Insurance Company, which is AFBA’s underwriter; and the AFBA 5Star Mutual Fund company, all operating under a holding company, 5Star Financial, LLC. These are companies that provide our members with solid financial products.

In fact, our newest benefit is named after our former President, the Charles C. Blanton AFBA Family Survivor College Scholarship. Forty-five dependents have received notification of eligibility for this benefit which provides a $40,000 college scholarship over four years to the families of AFBA members killed in combat.

In closing, I am honored to follow in the footsteps of Lt. General Blanton. My promise to you is to build upon this heritage and take AFBA to even higher levels. The AFBA team will do this by offering our members enhanced benefits and improved products which will provide even greater service for your families for generations to come.
