AFBA and 5Star Life is the Life Insurance Provider for Members of the NGAC

June 18, 2005

Armed Forces Benefit Association and 5Star Life are proud to be the life insurance provider for members of The National Guard Association of California.

Established in 1947 with the approval of Secretary of War, Mr. Robert Patterson, and General of the Army, Dwight D. Eisenhower, AFBA’s mission is to promote the general welfare and economic interests of its members and their families by providing superior benefits and services during peace and war.

Since 1947, AFBA has paid death claims to the beneficiaries of its members serving in Korean, Vietnam and Persian Gulf conflicts, the terrorist attack on the Pentagon and the Iraqi and Afghan operations. AFBA continues to keep its rolls open during the "War on Terrorism." AFBA’s Certificates of Insurance exceed 525,000 with $35 billion of insurance in force. Claims paid exceed $1 billion.

Today AFBA is under the leadership of former Northcom commander General Ralph E. "Ed" Eberhart, USAF (ret.), and a Board of Directors of senior active duty and retired military personnel.

AFBA continues to fulfill the mission set forth by its founders and is honored to provide high-quality, low-cost life insurance products and other financial benefits and services to members of the California National Guard and their families in peace and in war. www.ngac.com

AFBA Battles Identity Theft with 5Star Identity Recovery Services

Spring, 2005

It’s frightening to discover you’re the victim of identity theft. You feel powerless—not knowing what to do first or where to turn for help. While identity theft victims spent a staggering $5 billion in out-of-pocket expenses in just one year to resolve the theft of their identity1, they say it’s the sleepless nights, stress and time spent that actually hurts the most.

For these reasons, we developed 5Star’s Identity Recovery Services, as a benefit to active 5Star Bank customers. These services give you the tools and support you need to help you reclaim your identity and credit record (in the event you find yourself the victim of identity theft), and include:

  • A detailed action plan, including contact information and a task-list, to help you assess and tackle the impact of identity theft across all areas of your life.
  • Model letters for use in notifying your other creditors, banks credit bureaus and regulatory agencies of the theft.
  • Activity logs to help you organize, document and monitor the recovery process.Access to our Fraud Specialists via a toll free “hotline” for guidance and support.
  • Valuable tips to help outsmart identity thieves in the future.

If you are an active 5Star Bank customer and find yourself a victim of identity theft, just give us a call at 1-888-277-0444. We’ll make these services available to you and send this kit of valuable information for a one-time cost of $4.95 – which covers materials and postage.
