AFBA life insurance products are amongst the most complete group term and individual plan coverage for Armed Services personnel, Retirees and Retired Military, Government employees (Federal, state and local) Department of Defense employees, and contractors for the above. Plans are available for the whole family with affordable contribution amounts.

Military personnel under age 60, spouse and children Less than $250,000 in coverage (does not include spouse or dependents):

- Statement of Health
- No medical exam required if under age 50, Active Duty, Guard and Reserve


More than $250,000 in coverage or over the age of 50 requires a paramedical examination, arranged by AFBA at no additional cost.

Coverage continues after retirement or separation from the military - without having to re-apply.

Flyers are covered at no additional cost.

Significantly lower rates than Veteran's Group Life Insurance (VGLI).

United States citizen between ages 1 and 59, and fall within one of the following:

- Current Federal government employee
- Department of Defense employee
- Contractor in support of the above
- State and municipal government employee; including Police, Firefighters, and EMTs
- Military personnel or retiree
- Family of the above
Medical evaluation by an authorized paramedic or medical doctor.

Within specific age groups and coverage amounts, detailed results can be used from a complete medical history and physical examination.
Designed for members under age 45, coverage is on a tiered contribution schedule - contribution amounts increase concurrently with the age group increments.

Coverage ranges from $50,000 to $400,000 in units of $50,000 and continues through age 70.

Coverage up to $250,000 (doesn't include spouse or dependents):
* No medical exam needed if under the age of 40 and in Active Duty, or the Guard and Reserve.

If a physical exam is required, it will be arranged by AFBA at no additional cost.
Created for the soon-to-be retiree or current retiree, contributions for the group plan are locked-in for a specified amount of time.

The individual plan is available in 10, 15, 20 or 30-year coverage.
