What does the Armed Forces Benefit Association (AFBA) do with your personal information?

Who is providing this notice??

The Armed Forces Benefit Association (AFBA) and its related enterprises.

 

What we do

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.

We collect your personal information, when you apply for one of our member benefits.

Federal law only gives you the right to limit the following:

  • Sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes—information about your creditworthiness
  • Affiliates’ use of your information to market to you
  • Sharing for non-affiliates to market to you

State, District of Columbia, and territory laws may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

  • For example, if you are a resident of ND or VT, you have the right to opt in to the sharing of any information beyond the legally necessary minimum.
  • All other states, the District of Columbia (DC), and territories allow consumers to opt out of this sharing.

Your choices (provided they are the most restrictive of those you hold the account jointly with) will apply to everyone on your account.

 

Definitions

Affiliates

Companies related to AFBA by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

Non-affiliates

Companies not related to AFBA by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

Joint marketing

A formal agreement between nonaffiliated companies that together market AFBA member benefits and other company’s products and services to you.
