Veteran homelessness is a problem that many cities and states are now moving to tackle aggressively, and those efforts are paying off all across the country.

There are about 50,000 homeless vets nationwide, but efforts like the one in Carterville, Missouri, are chiseling away at that number.

There, a housing complex known as Patriot Park will have 12 units available to get those troubled veterans into a more stable situation.

Veterans make up about 1 in every 11 homeless people nationwide, a disproportionately high number. Thankfully, Patriot Park and similar efforts are already making up a lot of ground nationwide.
