When veterans return home from service, one thing many of them do is try to go to college and earn a degree. However, doing so isn’t cheap.

Fortunately, many groups exist to help fund veterans’ educational efforts, including the Illinois Patriot Education Fund. The group provides scholarships to veterans, their spouses and their kids. That kind of financial help can go a long way toward achieving a military family’s goals.

Since the fund was started in 2011, it has given out more than $300,000 worth of scholarships, taking donations from individuals and businesses.
