Millions of Americans love and respect what veterans have done for their country, but some unscrupulous crooks choose to prey on that positive feeling.

Unfortunately, scam artists claiming to represent the veterans organization Military Order of the Purple Heart are calling people and asking for fraudulent donations for the presidential campaign.

The calls may sound legitimate because the people on the other end say they represent the group and even mention its national commander.

But the MOPH says it is an apolitical organization, and would not solicit donations in this way, especially for political reasons.

The organization asks that anyone who receives these calls report the incident to their local authorities.

Unfortunately, while many people would do more for veterans if asked, in this particular case they need to exercise a lot of caution.

Thanks for watching, and be sure to check back later for more news about veterans’ issues.
