Hundreds of millions of Americans use social media every day, but they may not know that doing so can pose a security risk.
Unfortunately, a lot of personal information gets shared including dates of birth, physical addresses, and phone numbers on social media sites.
And while none of that data may seem particularly worrisome in and of itself, it can add up to enough information that can be used in identity theft.
For that reason, it’s often a good idea for users to make their accounts as private as possible, so only people they approve can see the data.
But even beyond that, it’s a good idea to have a strong, unique password for each site, and change those credentials regularly.
Thanks for watching.
