Hello, and welcome back to our discussion on how families can bond before a loved one is deployed overseas. Last time, we talked about holding a family meeting to answer any outstanding questions and make everyone feel more comfortable about the impending change.
Once you know the date of departure, schedule a few family fun outings the whole clan will enjoy. Consider getting tickets to a sporting event or concert, or take everyone to the zoo or a favorite museum.
You could also have a craft day where kids can make picture collages, cards and other decorations your solider can bring on his or her assignment. Not only will everyone have fun, but it gives you another opportunity to prepare everyone and discuss what this deployment will mean for your day-to-day lives.
