Hello, and welcome back to our series on ways first responders can de-stress. After spending a long day helping others, it’s important to take care of yourself when you’re off the clock. Last time, we talked about how exercise can effectively help you unwind. Now, let’s discuss some other techniques.

Of course, there are days when you don’t have any down time, but whenever you get a few minutes to yourself during your shifts, be sure to take advantage of this time. Just stopping to take a short break can do a lot to reenergize you and keep your mind clear and focused.

Whenever you find yourself with a spare moment, try stretching and taking deep breaths. Shake out the stress and take a minute to center yourself. You’ll feel better about returning to work and you’ll be more motivated and productive.
