Welcome!

Firefighters are usually under a lot of pressure, and that can sometimes mean that tempers run hot. As a station manager, it is your job to make sure that your crew gets along. Let’s discuss some helpful ways to manage conflict in your station house.

When tempers ignite between your firefighters, the first step toward conflict resolution is to approach the issue with as much precision as possible. Don’t tiptoe around the subject. Bring the problem to direct light.

It is also important that you remain neutral when both parties present their information. You may agree with one party more than the other, but displaying impartiality will help you put out the  emotional fires.
