Greetings. Welcome back to our series on the best American cities for veterans. Last week, we looked at how Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a great choice for soldiers in their life after service. Now, let’s take a look at something a little farther south.

Austin, Texas, is an excellent spot to begin your post-military life. Not only does the city itself have a veteran hiring program, but the overall unemployment rate is currently 4.6 percent – significantly below the national average of 5.8 percent.

If your focus is on education, Oklahoma City could be right for you. With a number of schools in the area, low housing costs and an overall unemployment rate of 4.4 percent, it’s a great choice for someone living on a budget while pursuing a degree.

Thanks for watching. Be sure to check back regularly for more helpful information.
