Many nonprofits exist solely to help veterans, but one in Virginia aims to give them a unique experience.
Heroes on the Water, an eight-year-old group operating around Hampton Roads, does just what its name says.
It organizes fishing and kayaking trips to help rehabilitate veterans who are struggling with the physical and mental scars that sometimes come with service.
Veterans who have participated in these trips say it really helps them deal with some of their issues. Some have even returned to volunteer later.
These trips can be focused specifically on vets who are still in treatment facilities, as a way to get them out and about in a relaxing environment.
Thanks for watching, and be sure to check back later for more videos about the many ways people and organizations try to help veterans every day.
